ARE PASTORS PREACHING THE BEST WAY?
PROPER BIBLICAL STUDIES TOWARDS WINNING THE LOST!
The church for about the last 100 years or so has turned to some real antics and games to try to win the lost for Christ but has really come up very short. I believe one of the main reasons why is because we fail to practice properly dividing the word of truth ( Ezr 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments. ; 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth).
If any pastor or congregation plans to win the lost for Christ they should become a serious student of the word of God. The results may not be what you expect like a mega church setting or Hollywood type atmosphere, but you will have a healthy well balanced church the way that God would have it to be. One thing we can't do is play games like Simon says or play with the Madame Cleos of the world .
( Ac 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
Ac 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
Ac 8:19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
Ac 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Ac 8:21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
Ac 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
Ac 8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
Ac 8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
The things of God can't be purchased or won, they come through a life of obedience to Jesus Christ our Lord and no other way John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Joh 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
The majority of pastors and laymen have become very "LAZY" in the study of God's Holy word. I don't mean just reading, I mean from the true Hermeneutical standpoint. Hermeneutics is the study or science of true biblical interpretation.
2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
That means spending more time in prayer, fasting and intense study so the people of God won't go lacking in the knowledge and wisdom of God word.
Ho 4:6 ¶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Hab 2:2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
So what I'm really saying is less of "you" and more of “God”. The people who really love the Lord in our churches can't grow because of the weak, watered down, jellyback messages or should I say Saturday night specials. Then pastors fail to teach the congregation how to do self-study. "MAND OF GAWD", don't be a disservice to the people, give them all you got and a little bit more. The word "study" in the Greek means: to make effort, be prompt or earnest, give diligence, be forward, endeavor.
Pastors it’s time to try a new method, (a new method to you) it’s called preaching thru the bible and it really works. Ac 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
The term for this is "EXPOSITORY PREACHING" it’s the way the scripture should be taught and not with the latest topical centered trends. Give EXPOSITORY PREACHING a try you’ll find it’s the right thing to do. Ac 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. Paul made this announcement because he taught the whole counsel of God's word. Heard a good sermon from Obadiah lately?
